One of the most useful things that has helped my own anxiety, and that of my clients, is understanding that anxiety isn't coming from the things we have to do in life. We can innocently believe that it's the aeroplane flight, the dentist trip, the party, the presentation that is making us feel anxious but nothing could be further from the truth.
When we know this, our life stops getting smaller and smaller (as can happen when we feel anxious) and we are free again to say yes to what we want. Our anxious thinking isn't a valid indicator of what we should or shouldn't do in life; it's a wakeup call that we are up in our heads, believing our own crappy thoughts.
