Berry Matcha Smoothie

This antioxidant rich smoothie (from the berries & the matcha) is great for when you are feeling under the weather or are low in energy.


The matcha powder is known for many health givine properties. It is made from the same plant as green tea, and so has many of the same benefits. Some include energy boosting, helping with weight loss, may prevent heart disease and type 2 diabetes.


Matcha is also high in a catechin called EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate), which is believed to have cancer-fighting effects on the body. So this smoothie is worth including regularly in your diet!


Serves 1


Ingredients:

½ cup frozen or fresh raspberries

½ cup frozen or fresh blackberries

Handful of kale or spinach (something green!)

½ to 1 banana (depending on the size)

2 tbsp of cashew nuts

1 tbsp mixed, ground seeds (such as hemp, sunflower & pumpkin)

1 tbsp protein powder

1 tsp Matcha powder

200 to 250ml plant based milk

1 to 2 tbsp of coconut yoghurt


Place everything in a high speed blender or smoothie maker. Blitz until smooth. If you would like to up the vegetable content of this smoothie, add some cauliflower or broccoli florets as well.
