What is perimenopause?

You may have been noticing changes within yourself for some time, and you aren't imagining it. From our late thirties onwards we can start to experience significant changes and fluctuations in our hormones. This change within your body (and brain!) typically lasts four years but can last up to twelve years, before you reach menopause. Menopause is defined as the point in time one year after your last period. Symptoms usually settle down after this time. However, it is the time during perimenopause (before-menopause) that we can experience the most symptoms and changes. Unlike menopause, perimenopause is not a singular event but a series of profound changes within the body and brain. 

Perimenopause is a time often referred to as a 'critical window' for health in a woman's life. This means that how we look after our emotional, physical and mental health during this transition impacts the next decades of our lives. Most women spend a third of their lives in the post-menopause phase. 

Much like our transition through puberty into becoming fertile, the transition out of our fertile years can be an incredibly sensitive time. You may not feel like 'yourself' and be bewildered as to what is happening. The wildly fluctuating hormones of this time may create many different symptoms that change month to month. But rest assured that this is a completely natural process that your body and brain are designed to navigate. Nevertheless with the pressures of being a 21st century woman there are many changes and shifts we can make that support ourselves during this time; to make this transition easier. Sometimes those internal changes we know we need to make become less easy to ignore.

This is a fully comprehensive programme with three levels of support available to suit every woman's differing needs, focus, health and budget. How we will work together is unique - I ensure that each programme fits into your life and that changes are simple and doable.

You will leave this coaching programme, not only with a renewed relationship with yourself and your life, but also with all of the practical resources, and knowledge that you need about this phase of your life. WHY WORK WITH ME

First and foremost I am woman in perimenopause. I have learnt a huge amount personally and professionally as I am navigating this transition for myself. Even though every woman's experience is nuanced and different, I know what it's like to suddenly not feel like yourself and to wonder what the hell is going on! Supporting other women through this change is a natural transition for my work.  

 

This programme brings together ALL of my knowledge, training and study form the last 15-plus years into one place. I've done the hard work so you don't have to! I am a fully trained and qualified Change coach, nutritional therapist (Dip ION), Three Principles Facilitator, Ignite Your Spirit (IYS) therapist, and Nia Technique instructor. Most programmes for perimenopause support will only cover one aspect of perimenopause (e.g. symptoms, weight loss, what to eat or emotional health), my training allows me to cover it all.
